Choose the AI
Choose who writes the answers: HolaReply AI, with nothing to set up, or your own key from Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude.
Which one?#
HolaReply AI is the simple choice: no account with an AI company, and you pay per answer through HolaReply. Your own key means the AI company bills you directly. Either way, names, emails and phone numbers never reach the AI, and keys are encrypted and never shown again.
Set it up#
- Pick the providerHolaReply › Settings › AI connection: under Answers choose Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or HolaReply AI (no key). If you changed it, click Save changes.
- Paste the keyPaste it in the key box and click Save key. No key yet? Get a key opens the provider’s page (for HolaReply AI: Buy credits; credit keys start with HC-).
- Test itClick Test connection. It works once the key is saved and there are no unsaved changes.
- Keep HolaReply AI, or choose your ownApps › HolaReply › Settings: under AI, Who answers your shoppers, HolaReply AI needs nothing; credits come with your plan.
- Your own keyOpen Advanced: use your own AI key, choose Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude, paste it in API key for the AI chosen above, then Save.
- A second AI (Business)In the Desk, Manage › Settings › AI: If the AI fails, choose another provider. Without one, the chat offers the enquiry form, as before.
- Keep HolaReply AI, or choose your ownHolaReply AI needs nothing: it comes with your trial and your plan. To use your own key, Manage › Settings › AI.
- Your own keyChoose Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude, paste it in API key for the AI chosen above, then Save. Nothing is then counted against your plan.
- A second AI (Business)Same tab: If the AI fails, choose another provider. Without one, the chat offers the enquiry form, as before.
Questions#
Does my own key count against my plan?
On Shopify, no: with your own key nothing is counted. On WordPress there is no answer limit; you pay the provider.
My WordPress site is connected to HolaReply Desk: who pays for the answers?
You do, with your own AI key or HolaReply AI credits: a licence is paid once, so it includes the Desk and every feature of its plan, but not the AI’s answers. In the Desk, Manage, Settings, AI: choose your provider and paste its key, or keep HolaReply AI and paste your credit key (it starts with HC-). Until one is set, the chat takes enquiries for your team.
Why does Claude need a second key?
Claude cannot build the search index. With an Anthropic key, Gemini, OpenAI or HolaReply AI builds it.
My key stopped working.
Use Test connection (WordPress) to see the provider’s message. For Gemini, make a new key at aistudio.google.com/api-keys. Until it works, the chat offers the enquiry form, so no visitor is lost.
