The best AI chatbots for WooCommerce in 2026: what each does and what it costs
Most “best WooCommerce chatbot” lists are written by a chatbot company that ranks itself first. This one is written by a chatbot company too, so we have kept to published facts, told you where others do things we don’t, and started with the question that matters: what your shoppers actually ask.
The short answer
- The best AI chatbot for WooCommerce depends on what you need. A good one answers shoppers from your real catalogue and store pages: product details, prices as your shop shows them, stock status, delivery and returns.
- It never invents a price, a stock level or a policy, and it hands anything it can’t answer to your team with the whole conversation.
- Plugins that use your own AI key usually cost a few dollars a month in AI usage; hosted services charge per reply, typically $19–$179 a month.
What shoppers ask a WooCommerce store
Before choosing a chatbot, look at what it will be asked. Across online shops, the same questions come up again and again, and many of them are the reasons people abandon a checkout:
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| How much is shipping, and what’s the total? | 40% of shoppers who abandon a checkout do so because extra costs were too high (Baymard) |
| Is it in stock? Do you have my size? | An unanswered stock question often ends the visit |
| How long will delivery take? | 20% abandon because delivery is too slow (Baymard) |
| What is your returns policy? | 13% abandon over an unsatisfactory returns policy (Baymard) |
| What is it made of? Will it fit? Which one should I get? | Product detail questions are among the most common chat questions (Re:amaze) |
| Where is my order? | The most common post-purchase question (Re:amaze) |
| Do you have a discount code? | Common, and risky to answer wrongly |
| Which payment methods do you accept? | 9% abandon because there aren’t enough payment methods (Baymard) |
Percentages are from Baymard Institute’s checkout abandonment research. See the sources at the end.
Most of these are answered somewhere on your site already: a product page, a delivery page, the returns policy. A chatbot that reads those pages can answer them in seconds, at 11 p.m., in the shopper’s language.
What a chatbot can do with your WooCommerce data
WooCommerce chatbots differ most in how deeply they connect to your store. There are four levels:
| Level | What it means | Examples on their own pages |
|---|---|---|
| Answers from your catalogue and pages | Reads your products and store pages and answers questions about them | HolaReply, WoowBot, Amaya, HelpJet, StoreAgent |
| Live price and stock | Checks the product’s current price and stock at the moment of answering | StoreAgent, Storebird, Asyntai |
| Order status | Looks up a signed-in customer’s own orders | WoowBot Pro, StoreAgent, Storebird |
| Cart actions | Adds products to the cart or starts checkout from the chat | WoowBot Pro, Webkul |
Order and cart features need the customer’s account data, so check how each plugin handles privacy before turning them on.
HolaReply works at the first level, carefully. It indexes each product’s public details (the price as a signed-out visitor sees it, SKU, category, visible attributes, weight, stock status and short description) plus your store pages, and re-indexes a product when you edit it. Because it reads prices as a guest, a trade price shown only to signed-in customers is never quoted by the assistant. It doesn’t look up orders or add to cart: if you need those, WoowBot Pro or StoreAgent are worth a look.
The one rule: never invent a price, stock level or policy
The fastest way to lose a customer is a chatbot that says “Yes, in stock, delivered tomorrow” when neither is true. The fastest way to lose money is one that invents a discount. Check any WooCommerce chatbot for these four behaviours:
- It answers only from your store. Not from the AI model’s general knowledge.
- It shows the source. A link to the product or policy page under the answer.
- It says when it doesn’t know. And offers a person instead of guessing.
- You can lock topics. Discount codes, custom quotes, trade prices and allergy advice should go to a person, always.

Two ways to pay for it
WooCommerce chatbots are sold in two ways, and the difference adds up quickly as your traffic grows.
| Plugin + your own AI key | Hosted service, pay per reply | |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | A licence (often yearly or one-time) plus AI usage billed by the provider | A monthly plan with a number of AI replies or conversations |
| Cost for ~1,000 questions a month | Usually a few dollars of AI usage | Often $29–$179 a month, depending on the service |
| Where conversations are stored | Your WordPress database | The service’s servers |
| When the AI allowance runs out | You top up with your provider | Plan limits apply; some go offline until you upgrade |

Setting it up
Install the plugin and add your AI key
For Gemini, create a key in Google AI Studio and turn on billing before you go live. See our Gemini guide.
Index products and store pages
Products, plus delivery, returns, payment and FAQ pages. Those pages answer many of the questions shoppers ask most.
Fill the gaps
Add short answers to the knowledge base for anything not written on a page: dispatch cut-off times, gift wrapping, international delivery.
Lock the risky topics
Discount codes, custom orders, trade prices, allergy and medical advice.
Decide when to ask for an email
When a shopper asks for a person, a quote or something the assistant can’t answer. Not before the chat starts.
Test on your phone
Ask about a product, an out-of-stock item, delivery to another country, and a discount code. Check each answer and each handover.
Speed: don’t slow your store down
Store speed affects both sales and search rankings. A chat widget should load after the page, not in the page head. After installing, run PageSpeed Insights on a product page and compare. If you use WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, WP-Optimize or similar and the chat button doesn’t appear, exclude the chatbot’s script from “delay JavaScript” and clear the cache.
Privacy and GDPR
Shoppers type names, emails, addresses and order numbers into chat. Keep them away from the AI provider: HolaReply removes names, email addresses, phone numbers and company names before any question is sent. If you use Gemini and sell to customers in the EU, UK or Switzerland, Google’s terms require a paid (billing-enabled) key.
Which one should you choose?
For HolaReply on WooCommerce in detail, see HolaReply for WooCommerce.
- You want accurate answers from your catalogue and every lead handed to your team, on your own AI key: HolaReply.
- You need order tracking and add-to-cart inside the chat: WoowBot Pro or StoreAgent.
- You need live chat, a shared inbox and WhatsApp/Messenger in one place: Tidio (see HolaReply vs Tidio).
- You sell wholesale or take quote requests: see our wholesale chatbot guide.
Ask it like a shopper. The chat on this page is HolaReply, answering from this website. Ask a question it can answer, then ask for a discount code.
“Does HolaReply work with WooCommerce?”“Do you have a discount code?”
Open the chatQuestions people ask
Is there a free AI chatbot for WooCommerce?
Yes. HolaReply’s free version answers from your WooCommerce products and store pages with your own Gemini, OpenAI or Claude key, and several hosted services have small free plans (for example 100 replies a month). With your own key you pay only the AI usage, usually a few dollars a month.
Can a WooCommerce chatbot see live stock and prices?
Some check them at the moment of answering. HolaReply indexes the price and stock status your shop shows a signed-out visitor and updates a product when you edit it. For fast-changing stock, keep the product page as the source of truth and link to it.
Can it tell customers where their order is?
Some plugins can for signed-in customers, such as WoowBot Pro and StoreAgent. HolaReply doesn’t look up orders; it answers from your delivery and returns pages and passes order problems to your team.
Will an AI chatbot slow down my store?
Not if it loads after the page. Test a product page in PageSpeed Insights before and after installing.
Can I just use ChatGPT on my store?
Not safely on its own: a general AI model answers from its own knowledge and can invent prices or policies. Use a chatbot that answers only from your store and shows its sources.
Does it work with WPML or other languages?
HolaReply replies in the shopper’s language using your content as the source, even if the store is only in English.
